What Customers Say About Presto 05466 ProFry Stainless-Steel Dual-Basket Immersion-Element 12-Cup Deep Fryer:

Found it good and reliable and keeps oil at a constant temperature to avoid over heating and prevents generating oil fumes. We are Indian family and use it for preparing a lot of Indian foods.

Note that it uses approximately 5 cups of cooking oil in order to immerse the food. This fryer is a great time saver. Man they were delicious.

I quickly put it to use. After reading previous reviews regarding the inconsistent temp of the cooking oil, I made sure to stir it prior to placing the food items in the basket. I was so excited to receive this item.

Second time I used it, I fried jumbo chicken wings. Good choice & well worth the money. I fried catfish & fries.

They cooked up great.

We had about 2 baking potatoes worth of fries, didn't seem like very much. We left the food in twice as long as recommended, but they never cooked all the way through. We purchased this based on the Amazon ratings, despite the fact that most people say it doesn't get to optimal temps. As soon as we put them in, the temp dropped to 300, and it never came back up. These were not huge, think fries either. And it certainly didn't in my case. We gave it plenty of time to heat up, and made sure the potatoes were prepared exactly as suggested.

I bought this Presto fryer a while back and have loved it. This leads me to believe that frying at the correct temp is a lot more of a low fat choice then the conventional wisdom had me thinking.I have fried at least 8 lbs of vegetables like cauliflower, asparagus spears, eggplant cutlets and onion rings and all were superb and much better than the old stove top way of frying. I had read the review on here about stirring the oil if it doesn't reach the proper temp and that worked like a charm. Then I poured the cleaned oil back into the original bottles that it was purchased in using a funnel I bought on here for that purpose.

One tip I have, actually two, is to heat the baskets in the oil before adding the food so the batter won't stick. Everything cooked evenly and had that appetizing golden color but the asparagus did lose some of it's batter.Boneless chicken thighs and haddock fillets came out excellently. I don't remember how long the chicken took because I cook by sight and sound more than time. And if you have to do a lot of onion rings don't use the baskets at all. Food is nothing if not sensual.p.s. I read all the instructions first and used a candy thermometer to make sure the unit's thermostat was accurate and it was.

It took only about one minute - maybe less - to fry the fish at 375. Just gently drop them in the oil and fish them out with a Chinese spider or use long tongs. I wasn't sure when I would use it again so after the first fry fest (say that three times fast) I drained and filtered the oil using a large mesh strainer with a round coffee filter. Norpro 5 1/2-Inch Stainless Steel Funnel with Detachable Strainer I was shocked to see that the two bottles were as full as they were when I opened them.

I would recommend this product for anyone wanting to purchase this product for quick, easy, cooking in large batches. The Presto fryer easy to clean, quick to reach proper temp. The easy to remove heating element made for the oil pan removal easy for cleaning.
